1½ cups rolled oats
½ cup unbleached all purpose flour
1 6oz package Flanigan Farms Pecan Pieces

tbsp salt
½ cup canola oil
¼ cup honey
2
tbsp cold water
1
½  lbs. dates
¾ cup brown sugar
1
½ tbsp corn starch
1 cup water
Non-stick cooking spray

Preheat the oven to 350ºF.

Prepare the crust: Process the oats, flour, ¾ cup pecan pieces and salt in a food processor until it becomes a fine meal.
Add the canola oil, honey and 1 tablespoon water. Process until the mixture becomes a stiff dough.
Add the other tablespoon water only if needed.


Press the dough into an 8x11 inch cake pan that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and set aside.


Meanwhile, add cornstarch to 1 cup cool water. Stir until dissolved.
Add the water, dates, and brown sugar to a medium saucepan and cook at medium heat until mixture becomes thick.
Remove from heat and spread hot mixture over the baked crust.
Evenly spread the remaining ¾ cup of pecan pieces on top of the date mixture.


Allow to cool for at least 1 hour. Cut into 2½ bars and serve.
