Pepitas (pumpkin seeds) Pepitas or Pumpkin Seeds are grown in many parts of the world, including the United States. They come from a variety of pumpkins and gourds and are sold roasted and salted in the shell as well as peeled. Peeling is a very labor intensive process done only in countries such as Mexico, Central America and China where labor is cheap. As cheap labor becomes less available in the developing countries, the supply of seeds will be reduced unless a way is found to peel the seeds mechanically. |
